Understanding Inpatient Care
Inpatient care is another level of hospice that focuses on providing medical intervention when the patient’s condition can no longer be managed at home or when managing the condition has become ineffective. In-patient care is designed to help terminally ill patients experience the best possible quality of life until death through symptom management, medical care, and bereavement support. Through inpatient care, the hospice patient will receive intensive, round-the-clock care and support from healthcare professionals with the intent to control severe pain and symptoms so that the patient can return home if possible and resume hospice care at home.
